My Approach

Knowing what you want to change isn’t always enough

You may understand exactly what you would like to change. You may even know what would be better for you, and yet find yourself returning to the same thoughts, reactions or behaviours.

This isn’t necessarily a lack of willpower or motivation. Sometimes, a habit, behaviour or response that no longer makes sense in your life today may have served a purpose in the past, perhaps as a way of protecting yourself, finding reassurance or holding on to something familiar.

Our circumstances can change, while the response we learned often remains.

This is where I become curious.

What purpose has this response served? What happens internally immediately before the response? And what keeps the pattern going today?

Looking Beyond the Surface

When we understand what is creating the ripple, we can begin to work closer to its source.

The difficulty you experience, whether anxiety, sleepless nights, a habit or a familiar reaction, doesn’t always tell us the whole story.

Two people can experience the same difficulty for very different reasons. That’s why I look beyond what is happening on the surface and explore what lies beneath it.

You don’t have to relive the past to work with its impact

My work can be content-free, which means you don’t necessarily need to share every detail of a difficult or painful experience for us to work together.

I’m less interested in asking you to relive what happened than in understanding how it may still be influencing the way you think, feel or respond today.

We can’t change what happened, but we can work with how your mind relates and responds to it now — creating space for a different perspective without requiring you to repeatedly revisit the story itself.

How NLP and hypnotherapy support the work

I use Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and hypnotherapy as complementary tools within my work. I draw on them according to what emerges through our conversations and what feels most appropriate for you.

NLP can help us explore the thoughts, language, images, feelings and associations connected to a particular difficulty, and identify where there may be room for change.

Hypnotherapy offers another way of working, using a relaxed and focused state of attention to explore patterns that may not be immediately accessible through conscious thought alone. You remain aware and in control throughout the process.

Sometimes our work may involve NLP, sometimes hypnotherapy, and sometimes elements of both.
